So called "designer dogs" are just mixed breed dogs. A true breed of dog, breeds true. In other words, all the puppies from a purebred will look the same. A designer dog, say a Labradoodle bred to another Labradoodle will get you a mixed litter. Some will look like labs, some like poodles and some like "labradoodles".
So, why do people pay soo much money for mutts, when they could go to their local shelter to get one?
I never understood that. Then wouldn't all the mutts in rescues and shelters be considered "designer dogs" too. Because they are a mixed dogs just like those that are purposely breed like that?
dont worry i would never buy one of those "designer dogs" i would rather save a life than pay for an overpriced dog
I don't get what the big rage is about these 'designer' mutts.
Someone please explain to me why people would pay over 0 for a dog with no breed standard, no record of health issues, and no chance of being registered with the AKC? Why would people pay over ,000 for them? Anyone could take a grade Yorkshire Terrier and cross it with any other small dog..
What is so special about these 'designer' dogs?
Sometimes, expensive can mean good.
When you pay 00 for a puppy and get an AKC eligible pup from very strong show lines, a two year health guarantee, and the assurance that your dog meets the breed standard.. That's a well-spent 00.
"Breeds didn't just appear. They were bred over hundreds of years to be what they are today. They were all mutts once, but they were bred for a purpose. Its the same way with Designer dogs. Just because they aren't a breed you accept doesn't make them mutts."
She basically said that designer dogs were created for a purpose. Do any designer breeders out there do it for anything OTHER than money? If so, I'm waiting. What purpose do you have?
Many people either are unaware that designer dogs are mutts, or beleive that they were entirely created by inferior specimens of the breed. Is it not possible to have an accident? Is it not possible to have less-than ethical people showing their PBs that may createa mixed breed from them? Everyone loves the sound of money.
I don't beleive in intentional mutts, but I don't beleive in everything going exactly as planned. A man in the show-world came through my work one day, said he'd payed the stud service for his (can't remember) to breed only to have his male pug tie with her upon coming home.
Does anyone agree with me that not ALL designer dogs are from inferior specimines? Granted, worth 2k, no. But things are only worth what's willing to be paid, so why not charge that?
I see no reason to kill all accidents. Unless their's something wrong with the pups in question, why not let them the chance to live? As much as I understand that breeding can be heartwrnching, I do not beleive that it should be heartless.
Sniffydog- When I was talking about killing pups it was in response to the first answer, which said to shoot or cull (kill) all the non PB pups in a litter borne of two fathers. Just so that we're clear.
This short video gives a brief reality check on Designer Dogs. My desginer dogs i mean Labradoodles, Shi-poos, Yorkie-poos, Borardors etc. These dogs are NOT breeds and it's not right to deem them so. I'm sick of people doing so and actually making money from it! There is nothing wrong with mutts/mongrels/mixed-breeds, i have no problem with them, and this video isn't to slate them in anyway, just to give those BYBs and people who are determined to believe these dogs are real a reality check- to give you the real truth of them. **I don't own the images or song** Images are from google.
